Mars: do you want to come to heart?

Fox: Yes please.
Fox: I will be there shortly.

[pretty soon: knock knock]

[no reply! but that's because the knock comes rather quickly, and Mars answers the door with a stifled yawn]

'Sup, Fox?

[fox looks... weary. there's lines on his face and his expression is just very somber--but mars only gets to see that for a split second before fox is smiling at him]

Hello. May I come in?

[ah. . .]

[there's a brief hesitation before Mars answers, not because he's debating saying no, but because-- where did that weariness come from?]

Ah. . . 'course you can.

[steps aside for Fox]

Everything okay?

I...

Could we go somewhere else? Just the two of us. Your room, perhaps?

[. . . oh. . .]

[Mars feels like that response is telling. he hesitates, before nodding and stepping back to guide Fox to his room]

I upgraded it a little bit recently. You haven't seen it yet, have you?

No, I have not. What sort of upgrade is it?

A smoking-slash-coffee lounge. Hiryuu always yelled at me for smoking inside, sooooo. . .

[gonna lead Fox into his room, through the extra door, annnnnd into this place! which has a coffee siphon and some coffee beans/mugs on the counter]

[:O fox is distracted from his melancholy by looking around the room]

... it is very "you". Hmm, it even smells like you, a bit.

[. . . lightly amused]

Do you want some coffee? I'm getting a li'l better at making it.

I mean that in a good way.

[he runs his fingers lightly over the couch]

I would love some coffee, thank you.

Cool. Take a seat while I make it.

[gonna get started on that, and thankfully he has some beans pre-ground so he gets to skip a step]

[fox sits...

and then decides instead he'd rather be a dramatic heap and sprawl over the couch, limbs splayed everywhere, face down]

[. . . . BUDDY. . . . . .]

Yoooooou okay over there?

[muffled]

Fine. Is the coffee ready?

Give it a couple of minutes.

[. . . in fact, while it's brewing Mars is gonna meander towards the couch and lean over the back of same so he can ruffle the back of Fox's hair]

[lifts his head in surprise, blinking up at mars, making a soft noise

... one fox tail emerges and wiggles a little, in anticipation]

[NERD]

[fluffs his hair some more]

You're being dramatic.

[POUTS but he likes the petting]

Perhaps I am. What of it?

Nothing. I don't mind it when you're dramatic.

[pet pet pet]

But I'd like to know what's eating you tonight.

I will tell you if you let me sit in your lap while I drink my coffee.

[like he wasn't going to tell mars anyway]

Deal.

[totally knows that, but it's fine, he doesn't mind a lap full of Fox anyway]

[sits up promptly and waits for mars to join him. '-']

[he has to wait until the coffee is done, but! as soon as it is, he pours Fox a mug and joins him on the couch, warm drink extended]
